Knitting

Ok, so i took the pics for tomorrow, & while i was at it i took pics of the knitting i've done so far. And so here they are. (Good thing none of my family read this. It would spoil the Christmas gifts.)

This is the one i made first. It is "feather & fan" pattern.
I had left over yarn from a project last spring
& i felt like knitting. When i was done
i got the idea to do scarves & hats for my nieces & nephews
since they have recently moved to much colder weather than Florida.
I called & asked favorite colors. My youngest niece likes pink.
So i went & bought this bright pink fun fur
(which is very soft) & crocheted this trim
around the hat/scarf i'd already made
& put a new pom pom on it with pink in it.

I'm going to be doing a lot of green as that is the favorite color
of three of the kids. This is a very soft, furry yarn
which i found very difficult to knit as it seemed to tangle.
I didn't think much pattern would show, so it is simple 2x2 knit/purl rib.

This is the one in progress. It is a flat, sueded "yarn."
It is a 1x1 knit/purl twisted/plaited rib.

Because the flat "yarn" is on a cylinder, it tended to get twisted
(in a way i don't want it to twist for my pattern).
So i pulled this out of the bathroom.

This is meant to hold tp. I use it to hold hand towels.
Neither of our bathrooms have a place to hang hand towels.
Because of the huge mirrors over the sinks there is no where
we could add them. So i got two of these
& they stand on the counter & hold the hand towels to hang.
I store rolled hand towels in the bottom part.

But for now it seems to function very well to hold
the rolls of "yarn" (i have trouble calling that stuff yarn,
it really is not like yarn at all) to keep it from tangling too much.

Oh so pretty!!! I wish I had skills like that - not that I'd have time to do anything with them... but someday I would! :) I love those and so will your family members who will receive them. Good job!!

Love,
Lynnette

Those are quite lovely. I don't have a single crafty bone in my body, but I do admire the handiwork of others!

That 's cool Kathryn. Love the soft yarn too.
My and the antique looking stand looks really nice.

My Mom was a great knitter when she was able to.

Oh those are gorgeous!!!! You should really start making and selling! I bet you would make lots of money!

I never did answer you on where I live. =) I am in Orange County in Buena Park by Knott's Berry Farm so when you come down the hill to your one job you aren't too far from me. ;)

Beautiful job, Kathryn! The ones with the pink trim are particularly adorable.

These are great; I love making hats and scarves for the nieces and nephews. I did this a few years ago and it was so soothing to just sit and make something while watching television or listening to the radio. I felt very domestic and homey....it was loverly....

I like the colors and the pattern on the blue one! I haven't made a hat yet. I need to work on one. I'm also going to try fingerless gloves.
